I Wonder Introspection

7 things I hope to be remembered for #FridayReflections

November 11, 2016

One day, I’m going to die. Just like everyone else. I try and think about my purpose in life, about the meaning of my life and most of the time, I come up with the usual cliches. But maybe that’s what my life is meant to be. Cliches that give me meaning. Here are 10 things I hope to be remembered for when I leave this planet.

Being helpful

I’d love to be remembered as someone who helped others either professionally as a psychologist or personally. There’s a reason I went into a helping profession and even though I can’t always keep track of clients gone by, I hope I’ve helped someone enough to make a change in their lives.

Making a difference

In some ways, this is linked with the previous reason I want to be remembered for but I really do want to be known to make a difference. I’ve blogged about this before and I guess I have realised I don’t need to do something big, something huge to make a difference. I hope that in some way, I can make a difference to my clients or to people I meet in life.

Being kind

Kindness is something I value and if when I die, people remember me for being kind, I think I’d die happy!

Being passionate

I’d love to be remembered as someone who was passionate about causes she believed in — feminism, mental health stigma, racism, discrimination.

Something I write

This is something I fantasise about but I reckon it’d be wonderful to be remembered for something I wrote. A book, a story, a poem. Anything!

An awesome sister/friend/daughter/partner

Well, let’s face it. Relationships are what matter the most in life. So in death, I’d love to be remembered for that.

Being funny

Funny is not something people associate with me straight away. That’s because it takes a while to get to know my weird sense of humour. I guess if I’m remembered as funny, it would mean you’ve really got to know me well.

What would you like to be remembered for?

Do share!

Write Tribe and yours truly give you writing prompts and all you have to do is choose any one of those prompts to blog about and link up every Friday. The link will be open till the Monday. After you link up, be sure to spread the love by visiting other bloggers who have linked up too.

Prompts for this week:

1. List 10 things you hope to be remembered for
2. Describe 5 strengths you have
3. Five people who have influenced you
4. “Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.” – Neil Gaiman. Use this quote in your post or as an inspiration for one.

I didn’t put up a Friday Reflections post last week due to internet issues and finally, as of last night, I received my new modem. I haven’t read all the posts yet so will take some time with my lovely co-host to go through the posts this week and choose a featured writer. But if you want to be in the running for next week, do join in below!

Until next time,

Cheers!!!

When I was growing up, I used to say “I want to be remembered after I am gone”. You almost covered my reasons – passion, relationship, writing, kindness, being a good human would be on my list too. Funny too 😉 Well, did you write for me? 🙂
I loved the prompts this week and I will add my linky tomorrow. Happy weekend and hope the internet issues get fixed.

I don’t know you personally, so I remember you for your writing. I want to be remembered as a travel junkie, a fun person to be with and a blogger

Posting my list made me think. And, gosh, “being funny” wasn’t one of them. It should have been! We all need humor in our lives. My brother in law that I write about on this blog loves to laugh, on his own terms. I should blog about that one day.

I love how you say if people remember you as funny then they knew you well. I am with you about being passionate about the cases I believe in! #Fridayreflections

I consider myself a funny person, but I think my friends and families tag most of my jokes as PJs (poor jokes) 😉 Oh, well! What do they know 😀 I am funny and I am sure a few of my friends would talk about my fun side in their eulogy that they would write for me <3

Kindness is definitely the noblest of all attributes, and if people could remember you for that, that's the best! An excellent list, Sanch <3

Such wonderful things to be remembered for. You’re absolutely right, relationships are what matter the most in life. I’m pretty sure people will remember me whenever they have a cakie or hear a Carpenters song. Such a profound legacy I’m leaving! LOL

Kindness seems to be on everyone’s list as is writing. Your list is fairly similar to mine.
