Flourish Inside Out I Dream

Hello 2017 | One Word

January 1, 2017

I’d planned to schedule a post about my goals and word for 2017. However, life got in the way and it seems almost appropriate I write it towards the end of the first day of the new year. I’ve had time to reflect and plan for what I want in 2017.

My word for 2017 is FLOURISH

It ties in well with my plans to Flourish Inside Out this year. So how am I going to flourish?

  • I will be making an effort to focus on positive emotions by taking a photo each day on the positive emotion of the month. This is part of the Flourish Inside Out project.
  • I aim to practice mindfulness and/or meditation each night before bed to help clear my mind.
  • I am also looking at mediation classes locally.
  • I will also be writing ‘What went well and why’ each night in an attempt to continue changing my negative mindset.
  • Practice self-compassion

  • I try this most years but there’s no harm again – exercising at least 6 times a week {I started this on Christmas day and so far, so good}.
  • I will aim to eat healthy and have a balanced diet.
  • I also plan on doing yoga at least once a week.
  • I really need to sleep at least 7 to 8 hours a night

  • I want to write 15 minutes each day – either the blogs or in a notebook or work on my novel I started for NaNoWriMo.
  • Pitch to at least one magazine.

  • I want to improve my connections — old and new
  • Be kinder and more open

I guess trying to Flourish in 2017 involves most of the PERMA model. Hopefully, by putting things into practice, I will grow further in 2017. And I really, really hope it’s a much better year than 2016 was.

Have you got any goals for 2017? Or a word?

Do share!

Sounds great Sanch. I love that word too! And admire you going for all you can in 2017 to make things work better for you! I learned about meditation though the Buddhist Kedumba centre in Willoughby Rd Wamberal. I subscribe to their emails & did an arvo course about anxiety & confidence via their lovely monks! They started me looking into meditation which is what led me to Headspace which I’ve been doing since March 2015. My 2nd Week of Life This Week (9 Jan) is Your Word for 2017 if you’d like to link up next week. Tomorrow is a fav post from. 2016. I changed my schedule as I thought not many people were blogging first week of Jan! Turns out I was wrong! Happy New Year. Denyse

The Wamberal place is where I want to go check out for some meditation classes. It’s close to home and they have some classes at 630 pm so it’s perfect for after-work. I do have the apps on my phone and am hoping to start using that tonight. Will link this up next week on your blog. Can’t wait to check out your word! 🙂 Happy New Year!

Flourish is a lovely word to pick for the year, Sanch. And with the line up of clear intentions that you’ve laid out (I prefer that word over goals/resolutions) it’s obvious that your mind is in the right space to see this to fruition. Praying for a healthier, warmer and better year for you this time around.

That’s a great word that you will also be able to action. I like that you have clearly set your mind at the tasks and broader things you wish to do. I wish you all the success and know that I am always around to chat.

I have my same goals as last year – about focussing on health, self, writing better, letting go and being fearless. Wish you a great 2017.

Flourish is a great word. Loved your post as it radiated energy and positive vibes. Hope 2017 will be a great year for you and that you can put 2016 behind you. Sorry it was a rough year. Some years are like that. All the best. Now you’ve inspired me to find a word for the year.
