My blogging process #FridayReflections

June 30, 2017

This is my tenth year of blogging. When I look back to some of my older posts, I can see a massive change in the way I write and also, changes in my personality and of course, the growth that comes in life. But surprisingly, not much has changed in my blogging process.

My head is constantly swimming with thoughts. Most are not relevant to blogging but when they are, I usually jot them down in a notebook or on my phone. I need to keep my ideas somewhere I can find them so that I remember it in future.

I create my content without too much planning or preparation. I guess the benefits of having a personal blog is that I write about anything and everything. So mostly, the content just flows. I open up my dashboard and usually write away. Every now and then, there will be posts that require a certain amount of research and I will put in the effort to do that too.

I don’t have a blogging schedule. Never have. There was a time I’d blog four times a week usually to make sure I join certain link parties. That’s slacked off a bit as I’ve gotten busier. Sometimes I’ll blog after work and hit publish straightaway. At other times, I’ll blog after work and schedule it for the next morning. I rarely ever schedule more than one post {unless it’s for things like the A to Z Challenge}.

So I guess, in a nutshell, my blogging process is to come up with ideas and just write!

Maybe I need to generalise that to my creative process.

What’s your blogging process like?

Do share!

If you are new to Friday Reflections, here’s what it’s about. It’s the end of the week, you’re probably exhausted with work, and all you want to do is sit back, put your feet up, sip on some fancy cocktail or wine, and write away.

Corinne from Everyday Gyaan and yours truly give you writing prompts and all you have to do is choose any one of those prompts to blog about and link up every Friday. The link will be open till the Monday. After you link up, be sure to spread the love by visiting other bloggers who have linked up too.

Feel free to add our Friday Reflections badge to your post or sidebar! Follow us on Twitter @FridayReflect and join our Facebook Group. Share your post on social media with the hashtag #FridayReflections.

Isn’t that what ‘writing’ generally is? Coming up with ideas and then writing. And because you’ve already touched on the element of ‘scheduling’ – that’s taken care of too.
    10 years, huh? You’re practically a veteran!

I agree…it’s just writing. And yet, when it comes to writing a novel, the same thing doesn’t happen! Hehe…yeah a blogging veteran here but not one that makes anything out of it professionally

Interesting to learn your blogging process. I’m not sure if I’d have your tenacity if I also had a full time job. Oh wait… kids ARE a full time job! Anyway, I just aim to join the Monday and Friday link-ups most weeks, other than that I don’t have a schedule or plan. It does help when I have something written in advance. I think the new one prompt thing will help with that.

I like to go back and read my older posts. It is a good learning process. 10 years of blogging must have taught you a lot, Sanch. Your blogging is simple and efficient. My blogging process is a mess now as I don’t get to jot down ideas when they pop up and hence content go for a toss and effectively I don’t have to worry about scheduling. It’s a big struggle for me to blog now.

Thanks Vinitha…you have a busy life and it does make it harder to blog regularly. I’m sure things will pick up 🙂

I’ve tried to be organised but it doesn’t work for me!

I know…I did try too but it was no use! 😛

I am exactly like you. I saved ideas, write as soon as I get time, schedule or publish depending on content and which linky I am joining. 🙂
I love your posts, Sanch. They are straight from the heart and I feel I know you through them 🙂
