The Month That Was

The month that was August 2015

September 1, 2015

It’s the first day of spring and I couldn’t be more excited! The sun is already setting a little later than usual and when I leave home before six in the morning, there is some light in the horizon. It’s a nice change from leaving home in the dark and then getting back in the dark.

I’m glad we are done with August. Now we can truly hit the last quarter of the year {Holidays are getting closer, people!} So what was August like? Well, it started off well with a weekend away for our anniversary to Hyams Beach. At the same time though, I noticed my mood taking a hit after we returned. I guess I didn’t really want to come back.

In August, I reflected on some stuff that kinda explained my mood such as being excluded by friends and just feeling frustrated at how time and again women are treated. After all, women can be so distracting for men and sharks are still considered more dangerous than the men killing women each month. I honestly feel like if I were the Prime Minister, I really could change things. Then again, I’m a woman so it’s possible I could be killed.

On the plus side, I realised I need to be more present and not bogged down by all the shit around me. I started therapy and I was also able to help my mood by writing about snail mail and buying some beautiful flowers. And Ashleigh and I started a monthly link up called Fitness Friday in August. Do come back here and link up this Friday!

Finally, I also reviewed one of my favourite local restaurants, Spice Boys, an awesome book by Tara Moss {who by the way, followed me on Twitter!!!}, and a downer by John Green. Oh, and how could I forget: my blog got a major facelift this month! I ended the month by working hard on my university assignments which I’m loving {even though I have meltdowns every hour at how much I suck!}

So there’s August done and dusted and now I get to look forward to warmer weather but horrible sinuses. Yes, Spring is here.

How was August for you?

    Sounds like a bit of a rough month but a productive month just the same! I did notice the change on the blog and wondered if/how I’d missed it (most of my blog reading is being done on my mobile at the moment)! Looks great!!!

      Yeah it’s weird how it can be both. Oh and I notice the mobile theme doesn’t show the brand new header and colours…have to sort that out!

    I went through a lot of lows last month too, Sanch. But I think that happens to all of us who are introspective. Hope you ‘spring’ back soon.

    The idea of this post is fabulous, Sanch. Without realizing it, I did a review of sorts on my blog today, so I’ll add my post here!

    I’m in Australia too and looking forward to Spring taking hold – the lighter evenings and mornings make a big difference. I think there’s still a bit of Winter left yet but it’s nice to know that I’ll be putting away the jumpers soon! Sorry you’ve been feeling a bit blue – hopefully the sunshine and therapy will give you the boost you need 🙂 ~ Leanne

    I can’t believe it’s September already! I’m a little sad at how quickly the year is going!
    I’m reading Looking for Alaska by John Green now so I’ll have to check out your review of his other book. I have to say I’m enjoying this story.

      Oh I LOVED Looking for Alaska…I think that’s why I was disappointed with Paper Towns. 2015 is flying by a lot quicker than last year…it’s a bit crazy and I’d love to stop and smell the roses but there’s no time!

    Fitness Fridays- that seems like an awesome idea. I am still working out my goals, but will join you guys shortly after.
    As far as the weather goes, here in US, we are headed for Fall, which is my most favorite season, only that I detest the Winter that follows. 😛
